What is Spravato®?

Spravato® is a prescribed nasal spray designed for esketamine treatments. Esketamine, originally developed as a general anesthetic, has proven effective in addressing treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts.

Spravato® offers an alternative approach with distinct ingredients and a self-administered nasal spray format. Typically, patients use Spravato® under the supervision of a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting, leveraging its positive outcomes in managing depressive conditions.

Once the patient is assessed by the physi and deemed appropriate for Spravato treatment, Spravato treatment will start with two sessions a week with each session lasting two hours in the medical office. Patient will be under supervision of medical staff, while vital signs are checked throughout the session.

After the first month, the doctor will decide in consultation with the patient about the frequency and the dose of medications for future treatment. Most patients can show a positive response within the first 4-6 weeks. But average length of treatment may very based on Patient’s condition and their response to treatment.

Before You Begin Treatment

Backed by clinical evidence and FDA approval — here’s what to know about Spravato® before starting.

FDA Approved Since 2019

In 2019, the esketamine nasal spray Spravato® was approved by the FDA for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) that is treatment resistant or includes suicidal thoughts. With its approval, patients now have the ability to receive treatment with Spravato®.

Backed by Clinical Trials

Clinical trials reveal that Spravato® can have a positive effect on depressive symptoms by lowering the frequency of suicidal thoughts, and by strengthening or repairing damaged or weakened neurotransmitters that can cause depression — potentially helping develop new cell connections in the brain.
